We already
wrote about possible trends in the software development sphere if Biden became the United States president, and now it happened. The leading U.S. software development companies are starting to prepare to cut production on the USA's territory and transfer orders to offshore.
One of the companies like that is Sonim. Sonim Technologies is a leading U.S. provider of ultra-rugged mobility solutions, announced a software development and asset purchase agreement with Coforge, the well-known Indian I.T. solutions provider. They call themselves "global I.T. solutions company," but in fact, they are no more than an offshore I.T. company that sucks high-paying jobs from the United States jurisdiction.
It is how Sonim's Chief Executive Officer Tom Wilkinson speaks about it with no doubt:
"This agreement with Coforge enables Sonim to reduce personnel and real estate costs and we believe improve our cash flows and align better with our future ODM development plans. Additionally, we will be able to leverage the software expertise and experience of Coforge."
And he continues:
"Coforge has agreed to maintain current personnel and capabilities, ensuring we do not miss a beat with our software efforts for our current products while letting us increase our focus on the differentiating factors that Sonim's customers value."
"Coforge has agreed... " Who's number one in this deal? Definitely, not Sonim is.
What does it mean in global trends?
The trend for the return of I.T. jobs, which intensified during the reign of Trump, has practically stopped, and the good old times will return with old good buddy Biden.
Choking with delight, The Courier writes,
"Global Offshore Software Development Market (2020) to Witness Huge Growth by 2026". Based on
The Global Offshore Software Development Market Status and Trend Analysis 2017-2026 (COVID-19 Version) 2020-2026 report, they predict a sharp increase in offshore development in the period up to 26 years.
What should we do?
We think doing the same things we did before but considering the explosive growth in the number of offshore companies offering their not always high-quality services in the nearest future. Nor should we expect a drop in prices for offshore software development. Probably this parameter could be an excellent touchstone to choose an honest offshore partner. The cheap cannot be of high quality.
